Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

robbery case 2

I was arrested not too long ago on a robbery charge. I took the money from the victim's wallet while he was fighting my friend over some money he stole. I called him and sent several text messages (after we were told to leave by one of the security guard in the complex) to return the money (still have the messages), but he never responded. The police arrived, questioned us and arrested both of us (the friend that was fighting and me) after i told them the story. We had our arraignment and i need a lawyer now. I want to know if the charge could be reduced or even dropped after we've been arraigned?

PS: No previous criminal record, full time college student, have a part time job and i also have 2 witnesses that can testify that i never had the intention of robbing the alleged victim. The police even found us on the scene waiting on the victim to come get his money back. I need a lawyer as soon as possible and would appreciate answer soon. Good criminal lawyer can also respond and leave his contact for further detail about the story.

Re: robbery case 2

Yes, that's a very good idea coming from you, i.e., you're ASAP hiring of a competent criminal defense counsel to represent you on this serious charge of robbery.

It's unlikely that the charge could be completely dismissed, but a reduction from a felony to some kind of less serious misdemeanor (theft, perhaps,) offense should not be beyond the realm of reasonable possibility.
