Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
sex offender registration/reclassification
Charge was per virginia code 18.2-370, subsection indecent exposure to a minor. Release date of served time Oct. 1995. Then registered for 10 years as ''nonviolent'' sex offender. Meanwhile legislature (2001)enacted arbitrary blanket ''reclassification'' from ''nonviolent'' to ''violent'' which requires registration beyond the 10 years. Would like to challenge this law and petition the court to be removed from the registration requirement.
