Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

ok someone siad i was their accomplise when they got cought breaking into cars. I was asleep when this happend because my mother called me and woke me up at five a.m. then i had to call the detective. there is no evedince of me being there except for his word saying i was. And also my brothers bike that was reported stolen 2 days prior. is there any way they could link me to the crime?

ps this question is because i know how detectives work.

If the facts are as you claim, the Commonwealth's case would seem to depend soley upon the word of the lone perpetrator, which in light of what your

mother would be able to testify to, would probably not be enough for the state to prove its case against you beyond reasonable doubt.

Better see about hiring a lawyer, however, if and when you're charged.

I agree. It sounds to me like you would have a very solid alibi defense. I would strongly advise, however, that you present that defense through an attorney, rather than trying to convince the detectives on your own. Police can sometimes have selective hearing in such circumstances.
