Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My son sold our 1998 Chevrolet pick up truck. When he ran out of money he cut the wire to the alternator and battery and called a "We buy junk cars" company and sold it. The purchased it for $300 with no title or registration. They did not run the VIN number and when we found it had removed all our belonging, including $1500 worth of tools and our $500 tool box. Is this illegal and is there anything we can do as recourse. We live in the state of Virginia.

Whatever recourse you may have in terms of civil damages for this
apparently unlawful transaction and your losses which you have incurred therefrom would seem to lie against your son rather than the company to which he sold your truck without your consent (in my opinion).
