If Summoned To Testify Does A Spouse Have To Testify Against His/Hers spouse to help convict them in a domestic crime?

Va. Code Sec. 19.2-271.2 specifies that in situations where one spouse is being prosecuted for an offense committed against the other spouse, the latter can be required to testify against the former as one of the statutory exceptions to the marital communication privilege
recognized in the Commonwealth.
