What is the statute of limitation in the state of Virginia for someone to file charges on you for assault & battery?

The crime of assault and battery in Virginia is a Class 1 misdemeanor. S19.2-8 of the Code of Criminal Procedure specifies that the prosecution
for most misdemeanors must be within one year of the date of the offense, except for certains crimes such as petit larceny, attempt to procure an abortion, etc., which have longer statute
of limitation periods.
