Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Statute of Limitations on Bad Checks
Is there a statute of limitations on bad checks? I just received notice of one that is at least 10-12 years old that I did not know about and they say they can take me to court. Is this true?

Re: Statute of Limitations on Bad Checks
The statute of limitations on this crime has undoubtedly run by now, if it's as old as you say, and, you could not now be charged with this crime. However, if there were a warrant issued by the court back then in connection with this case after it had been properly charged, you could still be arrested and brought before the court
on whatever charge(s) are specified in the warrant.
