statute of limitations in fairfax co va

my friend is serving 20 years in md. his charges that he has in fairfax co ,va. the charges are weapons off, handgun viol-use, kidnapping, robbery. my friend filed for final disposition/ speed trial in august 2007. my friend has not been brought to trial. he has not heard a word. my friend says detainers are holding him up. his charges in md is the same thing he's serving time for in md. should he proceed with iad reqest at this time? he's been incarcerated in md for 6 years. he wants to beat the charges or receive time served,if he can not get it dismissed. 180 days have long past since he filed for a speedy trial.

Your incarcerated friend should probably retain the services of a criminal defense counsel who practices his tradecraft in Fairfax County, and who should be able to advise him as to how best to go about disposing of these various outstanding felony charges in that particular jurisdiction.

And, FYI, there is no statute of limitations on felonies in the commonwealth.
