Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Self Storage

Does a self storage place have the right to lock someone in the gate if they have not defaulted on the payment? Or even ever given the hint they were not going to pay for that month? Wouldn't that be kidnapping?

Re: Self Storage

No, kidnapping, not likely, but, perhaps, false imprisonment, depending upon the particular facts. (If so, it would be a civil rather than a criminal matter.)
