Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Stun Weapons
I have found that it is legal to carry a stun weapon in VA. as long as you have no felony convictions, in accordance with 18.2-308.2.
My question is, what constitues legal use of a stun weapon, and/or do you simply apply all ''gun'' related laws to it?

Re: Stun Weapons
Yes, to be on the safe side, you should, to use your terms, "simply apply all gun related laws to it". As a practical matter, the intended purpose and use of stun guns is for self defense. And, therefore, any employment of this weapon for that purpose should meet all of the criteria required for legitimate self defense under Virginia law, including the element of proportionality.
