Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

I was summon to court for stealing a outside sign from a store called Gabriels. I went and apologized to the owner and wrote a letter of apology. She dropped all charges. Can the police still charge me with anything?

Yes, the cmnonwealth can continue with the charged even of the victim chooses not to proceed. Technically, the victim is not the party to the suit, just a witness. The party is the commonwealth. See my website for more info on the criminal process.
