Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
theft in a school system
My child took an electronic piece of equipment to school valued around $250.00 and it was taken out of his backpack. We don't know which student in the classroom is repsonsbile. Do we have any legal recourse to have an investigation do to get this returned and the child reprimanded? The school system in uncooperative.

Re: theft in a school system
If your first attempts to spur the school system to take appropriate action in this matter have been rebuffed, say, by the classroom teacher, you should continue addressing your concern up the chain of responsibility, to the principal of the school, and then to the school board itself, if necessary,
until someone has initiated appropriate action on your request.
