Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Theft at work

Recently my wallet was stolen at work and no one seems to know anything. We do not have an area where our belongings can be kept except for an office which stays unlocked most of the time. I work in an assisted living facility at night alone and have called the local police department and filed an incident report. I don't know what else to do? Is my employer responsible or do I have to just take the loss?

Re: Theft at work

I doubt that your employer could be held responsible for your loss and making that kind of charge would likely cost you your job.

You will need to be able to identify the actual thief in order to bring civil as well as, possibly, criminal charges against this person and to have any chance of recouping your loss.
