Yes, indeed there is which, among other things, allows a defendant
charged with the crime of petty larceny, for example, to dispose of the matter
by settling with the alleged victim civilly through a disposition known
as an Accord and Satisfaction and which also leaves the defendant
without a record of criminal conviction in that particular case.
