Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Ticket in my house

On Sat., I was inside my house in my pajamas, with my two kids, & our dog (11 yr Lab) A police officer came knocking on my door asked ''if the giant lived here,'' ''the big man,'' ''your boyfriend, significant other,'' at some point I asked him if he was referring to my husband Mr. [x]. I informed him that my husband was not home. I told him that I was in my pajamas & that I had to go change clothes. He told me that I had to leave my front door open. I told him that I couldn't do this. [I have a 14 year old special needs child, the dog used to be his service assistance dog] He asked for my drivers' license so that he could issue me a ticket because the dog did not have a county license, & if I was married to my husband that he could give me the ticket. My dog was clearly wearing her rabies vaccination tag. I told him that I would not give him my license & that he could give my husband the ticket. I wanted to end the conversation with him, he proceeded to call for back up, 2 others came to my porch 1 held my door open the other told me that if I didn't give him my license they would arrest my husband. He issued me the ticket. Was this procedure legal? I feel violated. I work for DOJ & had to report this police contact.

Re: Ticket in my house

Go to court to contest it(the ticket and the manner in which it was given).
