Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
Does time count?
my son has a suspended commitment and got in trouble shop lifting a 16.00 item. He is now in the detention center. We appealed the judges decision to put him in the Dept. of Juvenile Justice system with no revue. If we lose the appeal does the time he has been in the detention center count towards his sentence or is it dead tilme?

Re: Does time count?
Yes, the time which he's been in detention since the judge's summary revocation of your son's suspended commitment arising from his previous conviction as a juvenile should count toward whatever time he eventually is committed to serve.
