Embezzlement such as this would qualify as indictable larceny(grand theft) punishable upon conviction by 1-20 years in the state penitentiary or in the discretion of the court or jury trying the matter, up to 12 months in the local jail, a fine of up to $2500, either or both.(See Va. Code Secs. 18.2-111 and 18.2-95. respectively.)
