Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia

Virginia Grand Larceny

My boy friend took and used his Moms credit cards and charged around $600 without her knowledge. He signed the receipts with his name not hers. His Mom called the police and he was charged with 2 counts of grand larceny in Va code 18.2-195 and Credit card theft 18.2-192 and failure to appear. He is 28 years old. He has no priors except 2 DUI's. Could you tell me what he could be sentenced with and if you could reccommend any legal names that could help him please in Fredericksburg area. He is being extradited from DE back to VA in the next 10 days by King George and will be taken to Rappahannock Jail. Also, the time frame he will be in from Prelim to circuit court date? Is a bond a reasonable thought at the Prelim? Would he be able to come back to DE until his court date if so? And the BIG question how much would a good crimanial lawyer be to represent this kind of case, ball park figure. Thank you for your help in this matter. I am really worried and afraid of what may happen. Oh, his Mom said she would go to Prelim and see if they would drop it. Would it help if we paid the debt off before his Prelim? She just did give us the account numbers but this happened last June of 07. Thanks you again. PLEASE HELP

Re: Virginia Grand Larceny

"A good criminal lawyer...to represent this kind of case" (and to answer all of these questions)would probably want a retainer of around $3K ---to start with.

(And, no, your boyfriend should not be looking to return to Delaware anytime soon, and even if mom attends the preliminary hearing, she will not get the prosecutors to drop these felony charges merely because she would like to see that happen.)
