what will happen if i dont have a lawyer on my court date for embezzlement of more than $200?

Bad things will happen.
But seriously, it really depends. A lawyer can help you navigate the criminal justice system, and probably will get you a better outcome. The thing about law is that there are many places to make a mistake. A lawyer can help you avoid those pitfalls for only a few hundred dollars. At minimum a lawyer can take away some of the worry and discomfort you feel going it alone.
