Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
A woman was just arrested for embezzling here in VA - 3 felonies and 1 misdemeanor. What kind of jail/prison time is she facing? What is the likelihood of a plea deal given today's post-Enron attitudes?

Her sentence will be controlled by her sentencing guidelines. The guidelines are a formula that determines how much time a person gets. It is a numerical calculation based on the present and past convictions. Without seeing this person's prior record it is not possible to calculate the sentence.
Of course you are assuming that she will be convicted on all of these charges. It is important to take these charges seriously. I don't think that ENRON will make any difference. It will have more to do with her previous record if any.
However, the first priority is to WIN in the trial and not be convicted at all.
