Re: whats the worst
Get a defense counsel to represent you.
Petty larceny is a Class 1 misdemeanor and a jailable offense, up to 12 months and a $2500 fine, either or both. A lawyer may be able to minimize adverse consequences, such as securing an SIS(Suspended Imposition of Sentence) a disposition which you bumbling along on your own might not succeed in getting(in your haste to plead guilty).
If you can't afford to hire a lawyer, ask the court to appoint one for you.
