Gender Discrimination
My wife has been employeed by the same firm for the last 5 years. Recently she was passed over for a promotion. Her boss came to her about an opening in her department. He strongly suggested that she apply for the job because she was the most qualified employed with the company. She had been doing the job for the past 5 months with no supervision. She was only allowed 30 min for the interview. She felt that she had not been given ample time and ask for additional time at a later date. This was agreeded but never happened. All male applicants were given well over 2 hours. About a month later her boss ask her to come to his office. She thought she was going to be given the opportunity to finish her interview. At that time he informed her that she would not be receiving the promotion. She ask him why she was not choosen and he said he wanted someone more experienced. The next day he annouced that he had hired someone outside the company for the job. My wife has been extremely stricken over the whole ordeal. Her type of work is exstreamly specialized and the person he hired has no experience in the industry at all. She Currently undergoing physical therapy twice a week for stress.

gender discrimination
I really need more information to give a very definitive answer however merely because the men were given more interview time does not mean that she was discriminated against. I would need to know her qualifications for the job and the job description posted and the qualification of the man who got the job. Not ever situation as described is gender based discrimination. Based on what was stated I do not believe there is a case.
