Re: court appointed attorney
The court appointed attorney, like any other officer of the court, is expected to exercise his or her due diligence by filing apporopriate motion(s) for bail review, by investigating all aspects of the charges and interviewing his/her jailed client and all available witnesses, by obtaining all necessary discovery materials from the prosecutor, including the results of any relevant forensic tests, and then, in the even that plea negotiations are not feasible nor desired by the client, the court appointed counsel must prepare for and represent the client at the trial of the case to the very best of his or her ability.
