DWI in Virginia
I was stopped b/c of a faulty headlight, which I was unaware was not working. The police were busting someones house and I was driving past and stopped b/c the headlight. The officer smelled alcohol, etc etc. I blew a .2 BAC, and was arrested and put in jail overnight. It is my 1st offense, and I have no criminal record. I am 21 yrs old and fully cooperated with the police. I was wondering what am I likely to face with the sentencing? My 1st court date is this Friday, June 15, and the arrest happened Sunday around 2:30am. Thanks, I would appreciate any advice or feedback.

Better get an attorney to represent you on this criminal charge (If you cannot afford to hire one on your own, ask the court to appoint one for you.)
Since apparently you blew a .20 BAC, you'll have to spend a mandatory five(5) days in the slammer(the court should suspend the other 175), pay a fine and court costs of around $400 to $600, endure the suspension of your license for 12 months(restricted one if you request), and complete and pay for the Virginia ASAP(Alcohol Safety Action Program) program($250 to $300). Upon conviction for DUI, the DMV will also append a goodly number of negative points to your driving record which will stay there for around 11 years or so and your insurance will probably not be renewed and, consequently, you'll find yourself in the SR-22 "shark pool".
