Legal Question in DUI Law in Virginia

Personal record

Recently my friend and I received an underage possession of alcohol ticket and now have to appear in court. Court is early in August but we just got the ticket (early July). My question is, will the ticket be on my record now, or after court is held?

Only after you're convicted of the charge (unless as a first time offender you qualify for a deferred disposition and then there never

may be a record of any such conviction).
