Re: First Time DUI
You should be asking this question of your attorney whom, hopefully, you've hired by now or
have had the court appoint to represent you in this matter.
Nevertheless, if you're a first time DUI offfender in the Commonwealth with a BAC less than .15, the disposition of your case could go something like the following: you should escape without further jail time, a fine of perhaps,$1200 may be imposed, with $500 or $600 suspended, also, required enrollment in the Virginia ASAP (Alcohol Safety Action Program) is a given which will cost you several hundred dollars and which you must complete, suspension of your driver's license for one year is also a given with eligibilty, perhaps, for a restricted license to drive to work, school, etc., and, perhaps, the court will also require that you complete a certain number of hours of community service.
The foregoing is an outline of at least some of the penalties/conditions which the court may impose as part of your sentence and whichever
are selected as part of the disposition of your case, you must comply with and complete them all in order to successfully complete your probation and have your driving privileges restored after one year.
