Ok, Va CDL license holder being charged with a dui in NJ in a personal vehicle. I understand the consequence of losing the cdl license for a year however does that also prevent me from going back to holding a plain VA drivers license????? for use while in Virginia.

Yes, of course, if Virginia DMV authorities decide that such should be the case (after they are informed of your situation in New Jersey).
