Elementary School File Access

Do I have the right to request my child's school file (not scholastic - behavioral), to determine the notes and information that has been relayed about the child. Do I need to subpoena these records or is a letter to the school sufficient? How long does the school have to respond?

In 1974, Congress passed

the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The legislation gives students

the right to inspect and review their educational records and provides them with some
