my father became disabled on january 26 2012 because of brain cancer. he can't concentrate while speaking, cant write or type because of very shaky hands, suffers from disorientation and memory loss. I, his son, have filed for him for social security and medicare and spoke on his behalf with the short term and long term disability insurance company. I manage all his finances, and other matters too. Can i sign on my father's behalf? can i also speak with the above organizations as if i was him since he can't talk much?

You should contact an experienced elder law attorney who may be able to assist you in obtaining a power of attorney from your father, if your father is still capable of understanding the process and giving his consent to your acting on his behalf. Otherwise, you might need to initiate a guardianship/conservatorship proceeding.
