power of attorney and creditors
I have POA for my mother who has been in a nursing home for about 2 1/2 months. Social Services is working on medicaid approval. She owes over $15,000 dollars and the home keeps sending me notices to pay every 2 weeks. They know I am working with Social Services on this. We have complied with all thier requests and spendowns.
Does the POA protect my personal credit records and money from the Home? When I signed her in the home the form I signed said I was the responsible party.
Thanks

Re: power of attorney and creditors
Sorry to say that once you sign saying that you are the responsible party then you are responsible for paying, it does not matter if you have a poa or not. You should never have signed saying you are responsible.
