Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
7 on 7 off custody
I was wondering what the general impression of 7 days with one parent 7 days with the other parent is. I have had custody during the week for 3 years, while my ex has had the kids during the weekends. He wants to change the custody and switch them to a scool that is located between us. I am concerned that the disruption in routine will effect their schoolwork and other aspects of their lives. I'm also concerned that if it doesn't work out that the courts will not honor the original agreement of being with me during the week and with their father on the weekends. I want the kids to have as much time with their father as possible but want to do the right thing for the kids. Are there any case studies or reports that could help with this decision? Thank you.

Re: 7 on 7 off custody
There are likely quite a few websites online with at least some information on the issue of alternating between parents the physical custody of children.
The only real issue, however, from a legal perspective would be whether the proposed change would be in the best interests of the children.
If you think not, then you should be prepared with very specific and verifiable reasons as to why not.
