Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

2nd marriage

I have court ordered alimony. Divorced 25 years. My property settlement says nothing about whether alimony will continue after another marriage. Is there a statute that says alimony automatically ceases after another marriage?

Yes, by statute, unless otherwise present in an agreement or stipulation, spousal support(alimony) stops upon remarriage or death.
