Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Almost 18 and need to get away from parents

I will be 18 in nine months. I am staying with some friends and they are filling for custody. I was living w/ my dad and then had to go live with my mom the last week of my junior yr of school. My mom agreed to let me come stay w/ these friends because I was taken away from my dad cause of abuse and even signed a form they typed up letting the friends have guardianship and it was noterized. I could not get in school without them having legal custody so they filled for it Now my mom wants me back but she is not stable. When I was with her I lived in a tent in a camp ground until she barrowed money for a place and when I came to live w/ friends she left without paying that back and the rent to go move in with her exboyfriend. My dad got off in court because the lawyer made it sound like I was out of control. The person who is my father is not the same name on my birth certificate but he is my dad. My dad lives in a camper in towing company lot and he rarely works. There is also drug problem with my dad. I just want to finish school at my regular school and live a stable life like I have had w/ these people I lve with. They are the parents of my boyfriend and I know my parents will use that against me. What can I do??

Re: Almost 18 and need to get away from parents

The parents of your boyfriend are not likely to be granted guardianship(and most certainly not custody)of your minor person by any Virginia court any time soon.
