Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
I have a 17 year old who lost her Dad in a drownig accident 8 years ago. Anyway she does not want to go by any of my rules and she want to move out now she will be 18 in December. But her argument is always about the Social Securiy money she thinks it is all hers. So I told her if she emacipated her self then I would give her the whole check
Help me I think I am right

Forget about the child emancipating herself; let the turning globe handle that
issue within a few short months.
And, yes, if the social security check is intended as survivor benefits only
for the child and not for the surviving spouse of the decedent, then she would be entitled to the entire check until her eligibility term expires.
