Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

After 15 years of marriage, my wife doesn't want to be married anymore and sees no future for us. We have 4 kids, oldest is 14. She wants me to basically stay as a roommate until the older 2 kids are out of high school (they are just going into high school) because she things that is in the best interest of the kids. I don't want to be together. If I leave, am I considered the party that initiates the divorce? If we go to court, do I hurt myself by being the one that leaves?

No, the party(spouse) who initiates the divorce is the one who first

files the Complaint for Divorce in the appropriate circuit court.

No, as long as you stay in touch with your family and do

nothing that could raise issues of abandonment.
