Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
There is a 17 yr old female who will be 18 in January. She is currently is living in VA with her grandparents. She was being abused by her mother and got removed from the home, the case worker does not appear to be doing anything to help her except for trying to reunite her with her mother. Her mother calls and harasses her on a daily bases and she is not allowed to get a job even though she has her drivers license. Her mother is trying to force her to take her GED. What I want to know is, if she takes her GED and passes will this allow her to be emancipated in either NC which is where her mother resides or in VA where she is currently living.

Passing the GED, is not, as far as I am aware, one of the criteria necessary
for a minor to become emancipated in either of these jurisdictions.
