Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

18 yr old to move in with married 36 yr old man

My 18 year old daughter wants to move in with her cousin's husband (they are seperating). My daughter and this 36 yr old man have been having an affair and want to now live together. As her mother do I have any legal right to keep this from happening? She still has a year of high school left and I fear she will not attend, she also has a learning disability and is very inmature. Help....I don't want to see her throw away her life like this.

Since, your daughter is 18 and considered an adult from a legal point of view, she can, unfortunately, make her own decision on the matter which you've described (and which, of course, certainly appears to be the wrong decision), but I know of nothing that you could do to stop her.

Perhaps, school or church counselors could offer your daughter some useful and independent advice on this matter before she becomes irretrievably enmeshed in something that she very likely will later regret.
