Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

accused of being a parent of a 10 year old

I have been told that a woman says I am the father of her 10 year old girl and I cannot afford a lawyer or dna test. How can I find out if this child is mine when this woman dated my uncle at the same time

The only way to challenge paternity is if she petitions for child support. At that time you peition for paternity testing and the court will order it. The test is about $179 - you pay if you are not the father.

Until she takes some legal action against you, you don't have the right to demand a DNA test.

Good luck.

Why not ask the woman for more corroborating information? Keep in mind, however, if at some point it is determined that in fact you are the child's biological father, be prepared to shoulder the obligations that come with the status

of being a parent, including the obligation to pay child support.
