adoptive law

my mother adopted my daughter in 2004 when i found i had cancer and was not expected to live all though my daughter has lived with me the whole time. now my mother refuses to let my daughter, who is 11 years old, come home. is there anything i can do?

i was on chemo, radiation, and pain medication when i signed papers

Probably not, but you might want to have a Virginia attorney who is knowledgeable regarding the Commonwealth's adoption law and procedures review the paperwork and related facts associated with the matter.

Guardianship for your daughter would've been the better remedy in this

situation rather than adoption as the former can be rather easily terminated or rescinded unlike the latter.
