Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

At what age does a child have a voice in a court assigned shared custody? She does not want to spend the night at her fathers house because what used to be fear is now "uncomfortable". She is not afraid to stay with anyone else. This has been going on since she was a toddler. It appears children have no rights or a voice. I know some states the age is 12. What is the age in Richmond VA that a child can refuse to go to the other parents home and the legal system backs them up?

There is no one such age recognized in the domestic relations law of the Commonwealth since many factors can go into a judge's determination regarding such a matter other than merely a child's calendar age.
