Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
At the age of 16, my unmarried son fathered a child in Virginia. Now at the age of 17, he has received a summons to appear for child support. My question is; Since he is still a minor, could he be ordered to pay child support or will my son's custodial parent (his mother) be held liable until he reaches the age of 18? Could I (the non-custodial parent) be held liable? Thank you for any insights.

Even though he is a minor, he can be ordered to pay child support, but if he is still in school, it would likely be the $65/month minimum.
As neither you nor his mother are the parent of the infant, you are not liable for the infant's support.
