Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Alimony

A couple files for a non contested divorce with alimony. If no time line is set up for the alimony to end, is there a time when it ends, except for the obvious, marriage. Is it possible a person could pay alimony and have to work the rest of their life?

Alimony is usually designed these days to last no more than around 10 years or so. There could be situations, however, where one of the spouses is severly incapaciated and unable to work or earn income, and in that particular circumstance it might

go on indefinitely.
