Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Alimony ?
I am filing for separation from my husband, we have one child together that I will have physical custody of. The house we live in is in my name only, and I make more money then he does. Can you ask for alimony ?? I am not asking for child support, because its not needed and I am not doing this to be vendictive.

Re: Alimony ?
Of course, you can ask for anything(after all, "them that don't ask, usually don't get"), but in your particular circumstances, asking for alimony makes no apparent sense and the court would(in my opinion) not award alimony in the situation you've described.
It would make much more sense from a legal perspective, based upon the facts which you've presented, for you to petition for child rather than spousal support (alimony).
