Alimony

Are alimony payments enforced over state lines and if so how forcefully and what is the worse case scenario for non-payment after leaving a state which issued the order?

Re: Alimony

Support payments (whether child support or spousal support may be enforced by each state's Division of Support Enforcement and is indeed enforceable over state lines. You would be prosecuted by your home state at the request of the issuing state. They may impose whatever penalties that the home state could. Worse case scenario in Viginia is loss of any state issued license (like DMV) if over $5000 and you are alays subject to contempt of court and incarceration for any non-payment.

Good luck
