Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia
Attorney neglect
At the signing of divorce agreement, my attorney left some basic issues unresolved. When I raised questions, he told me I'd be divorced and it didnot apply to me. His neglect and or ignorance will result in my owing the IRS around $150,000.00. I was married 23 years and have nothing. He has ignored my phone calls, messages, emails, and registered mail. Do I have any recourse? I'm a 54 year old woman with absolutely nothing and my former husband has assets and financial resources.I presently live in NYC but was living in and divorced in VA. I also was billed by my attorney for $2600.00 and my ex's attorney drew up all the paper work. How can I respect the legal system after this!

Re: Attorney neglect
You may have a viable cause of action against this attorney for legal malpractice, but, of course, much more relevant information would be needed for a more definitive determination on this issue.
