Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Back Child Support

My support order from VA says I'm supposed to get my child support every two weeks. My ex lives in FL and support is taken out of his pay but not on a regular basis. He currently owes %51,000 in back child support, $40,000 to me and $11,000 to the state of VA. Every 2-3 months, he gets behind 2-3 payments which is adding up quickly. What do I need to do to recoup the back child support? Child Support Enforcement won't prosecute until he stops payments completely for three months. In the meantime, I don't get the support that the court ordered. He was also ordered to pay half of all medical bills which he has never paid. Can I sue him for what is owed or is it pretty much a lost cause. Thank you.

Re: Back Child Support

It's not a matter for DCSE to prosecute, but merely to send a brief notice to their counterparts in Florida that action should

be initiated there to bring the delinquent payor into full compliance with the order.
