I am the beneficiary of my recently deceased mother's, who lived in Massachusetts, life insurance policy totaling 50,000 USD. I live in Virginia and am arrears with child support and am trying to ascertain the best method to ensure Child support does not intercept the payout, and I can obtain the money.

Why would you not just thank your mother for making it possible to catch up on the child support you owe and use the proceeds for exactly that purpose?
