Birtch Certificate needed

My fiance was put up for adoption in Virginia and went into foster care but was never adopted. He moved to Louisiana and now needs his birth certificate. What does he need to do to get his birth certificate?? Will he have to goto court in Virginia or is there another method available?

He will have to go to vital statistics in Virginia and ask for his birth certificate.

This is a Virginia queation, but I will give the best available Louisiana answer.

The state should have some office that controls vital (birth and death) records. If he knows his original name and his birthdate he should be able to obtain those records from that office.

A local office of the state health department might be able to help him.
