Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Challenging jurisdiction

My ex still lives in the state where the divorce and child custody stuff was settled. My two children have lived in VA for 4 years. He wants to take me back to ''court'' in NM every chance he can. I would like to change the jurisdiction to VA so that everything will have to be done out here. What exactly do I need to do to change jurisdiction from one state to the new home state of the children
