Name change when born in another state

When the child was born in another state, do I have to file for the last name change in the state he wsa born, or can I do it from the state we now reside in?

You can file in the state where you now reside. If

that state is Virginia, you can pick up a forms packet entitled "NAME CHANGE FOR A MINOR" from the civil division of the circuit court of the city or county in which you live.This packet

will have the forms and instructions as to how to complete and file them with the court.

You can do this on your own without the aid of an attorney.
